From stunning mountain villages and historic castles to beautiful gardens, coastal train journeys, riverside walks, and hidden local gems, these are some of our favourite places to discover during your stay.
Whether you're looking for breathtaking scenery, authentic Spanish culture, great restaurants, peaceful places to relax, or memorable family adventures, there is something here for everyone.
All of these destinations can be comfortably visited as a day trip and have been selected based on our own experiences exploring this wonderful region over many years.

Alicante - Denia Costal Train / stops at almost all stations, including Benidorm, Altea, Calp, etc.

Abaran with its working Waterwheels / great Pic-Nic area next to river can also be incorporated with a visit to Archena as detailed below.

Alcalá del Júcar - The Cave Village / Best View for Lunch is El Mirador Restaurant overlooking this beautiful village and you may even see the Emu.

Salto De Chella - High view of waterfall and picturesque mountain village and then visit Bolbaite with lovely waterfalls and pools and Playamonte Lunch Pic-Nic or Restaurants over looking the Lagoon's Sandy White Beach! like the Maldives!.

Bateria de Castillitos - Military battery constructed in the 1930s in medieval castle style on a cape overlooking the sea and then Lunch in La Azohia overlooking the sea

Benidorm has something for everyone from the famous Tapas alley to Tiki Beach then head up the mountain to Guadalest spectacular views and if the Boat is operating take a trip on the Lake.

Calasparra with Castle De San Juan and the magical Santuario Virgen de la Esperanza built int the mountainside place of peace and tranquility / picnic area running alongside the Segura river. Place for time and reflection

Caravaca de la Cruz it's home to the Basilica Shrine of Vera Cruz, with its distinctive Caravaca Cross. Great Pitstop for Lunch etc Arroceria y brass Titanium its on route to Caravaca

Calp / Cap Blanc / Moraira soak up these wonderful places and walk the Ifach in Calp to work up a great appetite

Castell de Xàtiva / 3 Castles within a Castle, a wonderful full day out the castle has parking / restaurant plus magnificent views.

Cueva Del Puerto cave visit near Tobarra and the head off to Spa Piscinas y Circuito Balnea - Balneario de Archena in Archena, free to walk round and enjoy the river views / restaurants small parking charge or pay and use the thermal baths.

Fort Bravo / Texas Hollywood still used as a film location today the home of Spaghetti Westerns “Spaghetti” Westerns whose name references the circumstances and location of their filming. Generally, a Spaghetti Western is a low-budget film produced by Italian directors (hence the “spaghetti” connection) and filmed in Europe, primarily in Almería and the Tabernas Desert. Train/Tram from Los Nietos to Cartagena idyllic amble through the majestic countryside into Cartagena then walkable to most iconic places.

Villajoyosa with its colourful painted houses wide beach front packed with bars / restaurants / good parking however can be tricky in July / August

Yecla and the Plaza de Toros de Yecla combined with Castillo de Jumilla in Jumilla itself

Pinturas Rupestres de Minateda - the wonderful cave paintings "Steep Tricky Walk to View" totally free / Tolmo de Minateda dating from the Roman and before again totally free and Lietor - the beautiful village with plenty to explore
